SecureHorizons by UnitedHealth Group: Supplemental Health Insurance for Nevada Seniors
SecureHorizons is a private health insurance company offering Medicare supplemental insurance plans to Nevada residents. These plans, also known as 'Medigap' plans, are designed to fill in the cost 'gaps' left by normal Medicare coverage. Medigap essentially pays for what Medicare doesn't, such as many types of coinsurance, copayments, and deductibles.
You may know SecureHorizons, a UnitedHealth Group insurance company, by any of its former names: Oxford Health Plans, SecureHorizons® from PacifiCare, MedicareComplete from UnitedHealthcare, and John Deere Health. All of these names represent a strong and dedicated health insurance group that offers a variety of health plans, including Medicare supplemental plans for seniors and Medicare Advantage plans.
Nevada seniors (those aged 65 or better) have their eligibility for SecureHorizon's Medigap policies determined by several factors. You must be at least 65 and be enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B. If you apply for a policy during your 'open enrollment period', which is the six months directly after enrolling in Medicare Part B (and if you are at least 65 years of age), you are guaranteed acceptance for the policy you have applied for. SecureHorizons will not use medical underwriting to determine eligibility if you apply during this period.
Because supplemental health insurance companies set their own monthly premiums, Medicare supplemental insurance policies vary in price from insurer to insurer. Knowing how your insurer determines the price of your Medigap plan is important for understanding how much your plan will cost now and in the future. There are three types of pricing structures for Medigap health insurance for seniors: 1) issue-age rated, 2) community rated, and 3) attained-age rated.
SecureHorizons health insurance for Nevada seniors uses the attained-age rated pricing method to set prices for its Medigap policies. This means that your Medigap premium is based on your age, and increases as you get older. Attained-age rated insurance policies for seniors may cost less when you're younger, but may end up costing the most as you become older. Your premium may also be adjusted for inflation or other factors.
SecureHorizons offers Medicare Supplemental Plans A, C, F, G, and high-deductible Plan F for seniors in Nevada. With any of these policies, you are free to choose the health care providers and hospitals you use, and your health care costs are covered according to your plan benefits throughout the U.S.
