New Hampshire Medicare Supplemental Insurance (Medigap)

Getting yourself enrolled in Medicare in New Hampshire requires no effort at all. All senior citizens are automatically enrolled in Medicare Part A without any action on their part. There are no fees for that portion of Medicare but some seniors are surprised to find out that Part A does not cover all of their medical needs. In fact it is very basic and also has deductibles and co-payments that can make health care hard to afford on a fixed income.

There are many Medicare supplemental insurance policies to choose from. Before you can get enrolled in further private coverage you have to join the government's supplemental Medicare Part B. This one is easy to enroll in because it is handled by your Medicare office but there are monthly premiums to pay, but they can be automatically deducted from your social security checks so you do not have to worry about paying them.

Medicare Part B covers many extra medical services and supplies. However it does not include prescription medicines and it still has deductibles and co-payments. Health insurance for seniors such as Part C that helps cover deductibles and co-payments and sometimes combined with Part D for prescription medicines can be found at most private health insurance companies. These programs sometimes called Medigap are not handled by the federal government but they are regulated so that prices are kept reasonable and plans do not vary much from company to company. One way they can differ is that Medigap or Part C coverage may or may not include Part D for prescriptions. It is important to realize that so you can make sure you get that important coverage included. Prescription medicines are a large expense for many seniors.
