Aetna Medicare Supplemental Insurance (Medigap) in New York

Aetna Insurance provides New York residents with Medicare supplemental insurance plans (also known as Medigap plans). These plans cover some of the out-of-pocket expenses left by the coverage of the Original Medicare Plan, such as co-insurance and deductibles. With a Medigap plan, you're able to use your hospitals and health care providers of choice.

Aetna offers three of the fourteen Medigap policies available to senior residents in New York: Plans A, B, and F.

Medigap Plan A coverage includes:

  • Coinsurance for Medicare Part A, plus 365 days of coverage after Medicare benefits end.
  • Coinsurance for Medicare Part B.
  • The first three pints of blood drawn in a year.

Medigap Plan B coverage includes:

  • Same benefits as Medigap Plan A, above.
  • The deductible for Medicare Part A.

Medigap Plan F coverage includes:

  • Same benefits as Medigap Plan A, above.
  • The deductibles for Medicare Parts A and B.
  • Coverage of excess Medicare Part B charges.
  • Skilled nursing coinsurance.
  • Travel care for foreign emergencies.

You receive additional benefits by enrolling in one of Aetna's Medicare supplemental insurance plans, such as:

  • Guaranteed acceptance. Unlike many companies, Aetna will not use medical underwriting will not be used to seek out your medical history and determine your eligibility for Medigap.
  • You won't be asked any potentially uncomfortable questions about your health history.
  • You'll receive protection from many of the major out-of-pocket (and ever-growing) costs associated with Medicare Plans A and B.
  • Competitive rates. Aetna's monthly premiums are competitive amongst insurers offering Medigap policy, and is backed by its highly-rated customer service and strong reputation.

Prescription drug coverage is not available through Aetna's supplemental insurance plans, or any Medigap insurers in the U.S. If you need a prescription drug policy in addition to your Medicare plan, it's necessary to enroll in Medicare Part D, which was created specifically for prescription drug benefits.
