Wyoming Medicare Supplemental Insurance (Medigap)
The cost of health insurance for seniors is controlled by the federal government but not all of the Medicare policies are handled by them. In fact, the only Medicare program that is automatic and free is Part A which is not all-inclusive and has deductibles and co-payments that leave a lot of unpaid medical debt for those living on a fixed income.
Wyoming senior residents have many options for Medicare supplemental insurance including the standard Medicare Part B which gives additional coverage for most major medical needs. However, none of the additional supplements are free and all require monthly premiums. None of the programs provide prescription medicines except for Medicare Part D. Some private health insurance for seniors, however, provide combination policies to include Medicare Part D as well as an additional program called Medigap to help with the costs of deductibles, co-payments, and some of the uncovered expenses that standard Medicare involves.
Seniors can get a lot of information on the many different Medicare provisions including the programs offered to Wyoming residents Medicare Part K and Medicare Part L that help cover other gaps, or provide for those that have trouble paying for combination Medicare supplemental insurance. For those that are in a low income bracket some help is available through the Medicaid department as well and your Medicare caseworker can help you determine if you qualify.
