Michigan Medicare Plans from Unicare Life & Health Ins. Company
UniCare of Michigan offers several Medicare supplemental insurance plans for senior residents of Michigan. Medicare supplemental insurance, also known as 'Medigap', can help you pay for some of the expenses that the Original Medicare Plan doesn't cover, such as your Medicare deductible and the coinsurance for your doctors' visits. A Medigap plan with UniCare of Michigan may be a good idea if you want to keep your current health care provider, hospital, or specialist, because the insurance plan allows you to choose your own providers.
You are eligible for a Medicare supplemental insurance policy with UniCare of Michigan if you're a senior aged 65 or better, a resident of Michigan, and if you're already enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B. You may also be eligible if you're under age 65 but have certain disabilities, or end-stage renal disease. In both cases, you must still be a Michigan resident and enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B.
Benefits of enrolling in a Medigap policy through UniCare of Michigan include:
- A range of affordable plans to meet your health care needs.
- Health care coverage that's guaranteed renewable from year to year - they will not cancel your contract for any reason except nonpayment.
- Immediate coverage of pre-existing medical conditions.
- Direct access to any participating health care service or provider.
- High-quality customer service and a dedicated, toll-free customer service number.
UniCare of Michigan offers five distinctive Medigap plans to serve the needs of Michigan's senior residents: Plans A, C, F, high-deductible Plan F, and UniCare PremierPlusSM. High-deductible Plan F offers the same benefits as regular Plan F, but has a lower monthly premium in exchange for a higher annual out-of-pocket deductible ($1,900 in 2008).
UniCare's latest plan for Michigan residents is the UniCare PremierPlus plan, which offers the same benefits of standard Plan F, but with an annual out-of-pocket deductible of $1,730 and an adjusted monthly premium. After you meet the annual deductible amount of $1,730, UniCare of Michigan pays for any remaining or additional deductibles, coinsurance, and excess charges incurred by Medicare-covered services.
