American Pioneer Life of Virginia Medicare InsuranceAdvantage, Medigap Supplemental and Part D Prescription Drug Plans

Medigap, also known as Medicare supplemental insurance, is a type of insurance that helps pay for the out-of-pocket expenses associated with Medicare Parts A and B. With Medicare, you are expected to pay a portion of most health care expenses. Medigap insurance greatly minimizes your expenditure while allowing you to choose any doctor, hospital, or health care provider you wish.

American Pioneer Life Insurance is one company offering Medicare supplemental insurance plans to senior residents of Virginia. They offer several Medigap plans to satisfy your needs and budget requirements, as well as a dedicated Senior Health Services center to assist with your questions and concerns.

The best time to apply for a Medigap policy is during your ‘open enrollment period’, the period during which you are both a senior citizen aged 65 or better, and have enrolled in Medicare Part B in the last 6 months. The open enrollment period confers several benefits, such as guaranteed acceptance onto the Medigap plan of your choosing without assessment of your current health conditions or medical history.

When you enroll in a Medicare supplemental insurance policy with American Pioneer Life Insurance, or any other private insurer in Virginia, your policy will never be cancelled for any other reason other than non-payment of your premium. In addition, once you’ve enrolled in a plan, you have thirty days to give the coverage program a try to see if it’s right for you. If you decide for any reason that you want a different Medigap plan, or want to cancel your Medigap plan altogether, you may simply return the policy to your insurer with a cancellation request, and they will refund any of the premium you have paid.

You are eligible for a Medicare supplemental insurance policy in Virginia if you are a Virginia resident and senior citizen aged 65 or better, and you are already enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B.
