Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama Medicare InsuranceAdvantage, Medigap Supplemental and Part D Prescription Drug Plans
Since 1936, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama's goal has remained the same: to provide access to quality healthcare in a caring manner. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama offers Medicare insurance solutions for seniors including medigap supplemental insurance, Medicare advantage plans, and prescription drug coverage. There are three Medicare coverage options available to Alabama seniors from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama:
C Plus Medicare Select Plans – Supplemental health Insurance (Medigap)
C Plus plans are Medicare Supplemental health insurance plans also known as medigap plans and provide the kind of coverage many Alabama residents with Medicare have depended on for years. C Plus Medicare Select Plans were designed to cover the gaps in Medicare. These are the deductibles, copays and coinsurance not covered by Medicare, which can add up to thousands of dollars for you to pay. C Plus plans cover you when you travel anywhere in the United States. In Alabama, with Plan B or Plan F, you’re covered as long as you use providers who participate in our C Plus network. More than 11,000 doctors and 100% of Alabama hospitals are included in this network.
C Plus benefits include:
- No referrals to see specialists
- Medicare-eligible inpatient hospital stays — covered in full
- $0* copays for Medicare-eligible doctor visits, outpatient hospital stays and emergency room visits
- Pre-existing conditions covered from the first day
- Automatic claims filing to save you time
Blue Rx Prescription Drug Coverage Plans
BlueRx (PDP) gives you a choice of two different plan options. To get the right Medicare prescription drug coverage in place, you'll want to consider both of these options and choose the plan that best meets your needs and budget. Whether you currently take any prescription drugs or not, you'll want to sign up now to avoid the late enrollment penalty Medicare may charge you for joining a drug plan after you are first eligible. Make sure the plan you enroll in covers all prescription drugs you are currently taking. You’ll also want to consider an option with an expanded formulary, like BlueRx Option II (PDP). This feature gives you added protection for new prescription drugs you may need to take in the coming year.

- Access to over 60,000 participating pharmacies
- Convenient Mail Order Service
BlueRx Option II (PDP) – Covers all Medicare-approved covered prescription drugs
- Added protection of an expanded formulary – including more brand name drugs
- Access to over 60,000 participating pharmacies
