At this point, we've reviewed many of the technical terms and phrases that are commonly used in interactions between consumers and health insurers. An understanding of those terms represents one of the most important tools for dealing successfully with your health insurance.
However, it's important to remember that some health insurance companies may have their own definitions for some of these terms, or may use specific terms in a somewhat different way. If that occurs, just ask an insurance company representative for the meaning of the particular technical term as it's being used by the company.
Now that you understand many of the technical terms and phrases used in the health insurance field, we can begin to focus on the details of preventing and dealing with specific claim problems. If you forget the exact meaning of a technical term or phrase at any point, you'll find it listed in the glossary.
