Taking Care of Mom and Dad: Adult Family Homes
These homes can house as many as four adults. Many times, these are private homes where owners rent out bedrooms and provide supportive services. Recently, corporations have started running these facilities. The homes are run by operators. Most states require no educational requirements for operators. A high school dropout could qualify. In some states, an operator must be at least 21. In some states a care provider must complete some minimum training requirements, including fire safety and first aid. Additional requirements may include health and safety training.
