Merritt Personal Lines Manual: Dependents
Coverage for newborns and newly adopted children begins at birth or at time of legal adoption. A dependent can also be added at the time of a qualifying event, such as marriage.
Children are considered dependents usually through age 19 or up to age 23 if they are attending school full-time and are dependent upon employed parents for full financial support. In addition children of any age may be considered dependents if they are disabled and financially dependent upon the employed parent.
