Kids and Health Care: Chapter 7 - School Programs, Etc. Introduction
In earlier chapters, we took a look at the various programs -- traditional insurance companies, managed care plans and government agencies -- that help provide health coverage for kids. But one of the most important health care programs for many children is related to the place that they spend most of their waking hours: School.
School health programs involve everything from physical hygiene and sex education to public health programs, diet and nutrition and medical care far beyond the "nurse's office" that most adults remember from their own school days. Parents or guardians of school-aged children should be aware of how much health care service is delivered at school...and what this can mean for their kids.
