One major warning should accompany any discussion of Social Security as a disability benefit: It doesn't provide very much money.

We've noted this before, but it bears repeating.

If you have a large family or a close circle of friends to support you...or if you have enough cash or liquid assets to last you through a disability...Social Security may be enough. Otherwise, you should probably look into supplementing this income insurance with commercial coverage.
