We've discussed briefly situations in which an insurance company might argue that disability income coverage was excluded. As with any kind of insurance, these situations -- which industry professionals call exclusions -- are critical.
Common exclusions found in disability income policies include losses arising from war, military service, attempted suicide, overseas residence, aviation under certain circumstances (pilot or crew of an aircraft) and losses that result when a person is injured while committing a felony.
