Wyoming Officials Push for Vaccinations to Fight Whooping Cough
With pertussis (or whooping cough) cases sharply on the rise this year in many states, Wyoming Department of Health officials are encouraging families to make sure their families are protected from the disease by getting vaccinated. California has declared a whooping cough epidemic, with at least 900 reported cases and five infant deaths. Several other states are reporting increased pertussis cases. Eight pertussis cases have been reported to the Wyoming Department of Health so far this year; 20 were reported in 2009. "While we are not seeing any unusual pertussis activity in Wyoming at this time, what is going on in other states can help remind us all about how important vaccines can be," said Dr. Brent Sherard, Wyoming Department of Health director and state health officer. Pertussis is thankfully a vaccine-preventable disease. "Not surprisingly, pertussis can be most severe for babies who are too young to be fully vaccinated," Sherard said. "These babies often catch the illness from a family member or other caregiver who didn't realize they have the disease.""

Wyoming Health Insurance News:

When looking for affordable health insurance quotes you may find yourself being bombarded with confusing terminology and long drawn out explanations of what is and is not covered in a plan. Those words can begin to jumble together until frustration sets in and you give up. Choosing affordable health insurance in Wyoming doesn't have to be that painful or frustrating though. Take the time to study what all of those acronyms stand for and how they impact your insurance choice and know what to look for when comparing policies. Health insurance is too important to give up on.
A single short term illness can devastate a family, emotionally, physically, and financially. A long-term illness can tear a family up in all of those areas and leave them incapable of resurrecting themselves. Medical bills are the leading cause of bankruptcy and it isn't hard to understand why. A single night stay in a hospital or a onetime trip to the emergency room can run into the thousands of dollars.
Choosing a company like Aetna gives you the peace of mind of knowing you have a nationwide company behind your health insurance needs. They offer all of the standard coverages and provide excellent information and feedback through their customer service.
Another great option for health insurance in Wyoming is Altius One. They are another national affordable health insurance company and they have excellent plans with manageable deductibles. They provide standard care and also have options for dental, vision, and Medicare supplement plans.
Your first step in choosing an affordable health insurance is to get as many health insurance quotes possible. You can get them online quickly and easily and study them in the comfort of your own home at your leisure. Look for the cost of deductibles, if they cover pre-existing conditions, how much the co-pay is, if they require pre-authorization of any work prior to a procedure, and if they require you to use a specific doctor or hospital.
Be careful if you decide to go with a plan that uses capitation to cover services. This means they have paid a specific doctor for the cost of all of your care during a specific period of time. If the costs are higher they will not pay more. That can leave you with hefty payments, or a doctor unwilling to go the extra mile because they know they won't get paid. While such plans are usually very affordable they have a back-end cost that may be more than you are willing to pay. It only takes a few minutes of your valuable time to compare health insurance quotes, but it will pay off in the future in quality care.
