Consumer Inquiries and Complaints
If you have a health insurance inquiry or you are experiencing a problem with your insurance company or agent, the California Department of Insurance (CDI) stands ready to assist you.
If you would like to inquire about a general health insurance issue or file a complaint you may do so by contacting our Consumer toll free number 1-800-927-4357. Inquiries and complaints can also be submitted electronically via our website at: www.insurance.ca.gov.
Before filing a complaint with the CDI, you should first contact the insurance company, agent or broker in an effort to resolve the issue. If you do not receive a satisfactory response, you can file a complaint with the CDI.
To file a complaint you will need to complete a "Request for Assistance" (RFA). You can obtain an RFA by contacting our consumer toll free number 1-800-927-4357 or by visiting our website at www.insurance.ca.gov and clicking on CONSUMERS.
