Finally, Catholic.com has an article entitled, "Pro-life Democrats Sign on to Health Reform," in which they talk about how assurances from the Obama administration that the new bill would not provide federal funding for abortions brought over many Democrats who were initially opposed to the bill. While the legislation never really provided funds for abortions, these reassurances helped even pro-life Democrats to jump on the bandwagon.

This Sunday, March 21st, the House is slated to have an up/down (or yes/no) vote on passing the latest version of the health care reform bill, which was just released recently. Given how this affects everyone, it makes sense to take a closer look at the legislation, and thankfully for us, The Associated Press has done just that.

One of the big parts of the debate over health insurance and health care reform is the high cost of health care, medicine and so on. In their recent spate of rate increases, Wellpoint blamed the high cost of health care as the primary reasons why their rates are increasing as much as thirty-nine percent. Part of this equation is the medicine that goes into health care, and is a large part of the costs of health care that are trying to be brought down. While it's difficult to convince drug companies to reduce their costs -- since they do make so much money, it's understandable -- the Governor of Montana has an idea that might help…get drugs from Canada.

Recently, due to Wellpoint's well-publicized and much-maligned rate increases here in California, there has been an even stronger call for transparency behind what goes into health insurance rates and why they're increased. Recently, President Obama and his legislation jumped into the fray as well, according to an article in The Sacramento Bee entitled, "Obama presses health insurers to give details online for rate hikes".
