This week we'll look at various articles covering Medicare, employer-based health insurance and worries over government killing private health insurance as part of their strides to reform health care in this country. Our first article comes from CNN Money and is entitled, "Medicare Advantage' Cuts Unwelcome News For Some Lawmakers." This article talks about how the government's recent decision to reduce payment amounts for private Medicare plans, known as Medicare Advantage, has lawmakers worried about their re-election possibilities in future elections.

Today we look at three varying articles covering different health insurance-related topics, the first of which being an article from ajc.com entitled, "Ills of French health system a lesson on reining in costs." This article takes a look at the French system of nationalized health care and, in looking at the types of reforms our own American government is trying to achieve. In looking at the French system, it was found that while they proposed a compulsory system for purchasing health insurance, this system was what they called a "Trojan horse."

This week we will look at three articles looking at various steps and ideas to make health insurance more affordable for individuals and small businesses, whether through concessions or the idea of reform. Our first article, entitled, "Health insurers, NFIB now friends, not foes, on reforms" comes to us from the Washington Business Journal. This article looks at how the National Federation of Independent Business and the health insurance industry -- longtime foes over health insurance reform -- are now making strides toward agreeing on various reforms in order to reduce the cost of health insurance for small businesses.
